Downline Integrity - Myth, Mystery or Just Plain Madness? November 7, 2007

Posted by paul in : Stories , 5comments

These last few weeks have been very interesting in the traffic exchanges. Well, aren’t they always?

Things really kicked off a few weeks when a misguided inexperienced traffic exchange owner decided that most of us were crooks “stealing members downlines”

I don’t feel I was a particular target for this smear campaign but I took great exception to these tactics, the negativity they created around traffic exchanges and the fact that they were targeting several people that I know well and trust.

I personally didn’t feel that Downline Integrity was a particularly important subject until recently. I run Traffic-Splash primarily as an advertising service, but I have no gripes with the owners who focus on downline building or list building instead. It’s a free world and we all choose our own business models.

I’ve seen an awful lot of oipinion recently though, articles that have been appearing everywhere. Mike Paetzold’s recent article on downline integrity has some interesting points and I’m amazed to see how many comments he has already received.

Jon Olson has also mentioned it in his post Downline Integrity - The Big Debate Across The Net and I see that Robert Puddy is most definitely not sitting on any fence here. Would ever expect him to? Robert’s blog post is called Downline Integrity Stunts Your Growth.

Then I saw this great article by Soren Jordensan who is particularly passionate on this topic and his article actually got features in a popular search directory for articles. Check out his downline integrity article.

As Jon says in his blog, it will be interesting to read this week’s Hit Exchange News when Rob Gehring will be putting forward the case for Downline Integrity.

I hope for a passionate and positive article. I look forward to reporting more on this subject in a few days …..

Good News, Another Huge Giveaway … August 1, 2007

Posted by paul in : Stories , add a comment

I wasn’t planning to write you today but something
came up which proves a couple of age-old adages
that I wanted to share with you and then I’ll share how
it could benefit you.

The two adages:
1. The harder you work, the luckier you get.
2. It’s not what you know, but who you know.

Let me explain. Yesterday was a very long (tho not exactly
unusual) day for me. I started work at 7am after just 4
hours sleep and finished at 4am this morning. Now,
my last “real” task yesterday was to write Traffic-Splash
News. I finished that around midnight and could so easily
have finished work then.

I was definitely ready for bed but I decided to hang out
in a conference room and catch up with a few mates (all
online marketers) on what had happened during the day.

Well, that’s where you and I struck lucky because I was
offered the chance to get involved in my first-ever giveaway
event, and what an event it is!

Robert Puddy and Soren Jordansen just launched the
mother of all giveaways; The 15 Days of Summer Giveaway.

They called in some favours from 15 of their internet
marketing friends (and twisted some arms but not mine I
assure you, I was in like a shot!) The result is 15 absolutely
superb gifts that you can download right now without paying
a single penny.

So, that’s how I struck lucky. This giveaway will probably bring
around 1,000 new subscribers to my list. You gain there too
because they will all hear about Traffic-Splash of course :)

But what else is in it for you ……

THE GIFTS THEMSELVES
These gifts had to pass rigorous quality tests - there is no
fluff and no filling and certainly no rehashed stuff that
you have seen on hundreds of other sites.

BIG COMMISSIONS
You will earn a massive 90% commission when your
referrals purchase the One Time Offer! To help you make
money by promoting 15 Days of Summer, there is a ton
of great marketing tools that you can find in the affiliate tool
box. No need to worry about creating emails, banners, etc!

YOU CAN JV TOO
When you have referred just 20 people to the site you will
be automatically upgraded to JV partner so you can submit
your own gift and build your own huge list too.

So Where’s The Catch?

There is no catch, except that this giveaway ends on August
15th - Not a day more. After that you can only access these
products and services by paying top dollar for them as usual.

That is why I had to get this email out to you today. Don’t
waste any time, secure your free membership today so you
can download all the goodies before the giveaway is over.

Have a great day
Paul Kinder

P.S. Be like me - don’t snooze and don’t lose!
You need to act fast as once this giveaway is gone,
it will be gone forever and it will not come back.
Secure your spot today!

Traffic-Splashing is rocking! May 4, 2007

Well, another quiet month on my blog. Sorry! All that negativity really deflated me so I just focussed on Traffic-Splash and the members and that really cheered me up again!

LOADS happened last month, Traffic-Splash has zoomed past the 5,000 member mark, Splash BB produced an absolutely amazing response as well as some superb splashes, members won over $900 of prizes in TheBigSplash referral contest and our EarthDay Referral Contest is going great guns too.

I even have a technical partner coming. Mr X is a programming legend (so he tells me!) and he’ll be starting with us fully in a few weeks time once all exams are over. More to come on that over time and there are LOTS of exciting developments to talk about in the next few weeks.

And guess what, I’m going to start talking about them on here regularly again too. Watch this space…..

Clean and Speed Up Your PC April 7, 2007

My good friend John Weir has been running traffic exchanges since 2001. Almost everybody in UK traffic exchanges will have had dealings with John before and his new site Postcard-ads is proving popular too.

One of the things that prospective traffic exchange owners don’t realise is that to admin their exchange correctly and look after their members interests they will probably have to put their own PC at risk when they’re checking new site submissions.

I must admit I was reluctant and it was one reason I wanted a technical partner. Well, that kinda never happened so I was really grateful when John offered to help me out with my PC security. I needed to move away from Norton and John set me up with a suite of programs that look after my PC for free.

One program that particularly stands out for me is C Cleaner. I’m not saying what the C stands for but this thing cleans all the #rap off your PC and it is stunningly fast too. This morning it cleaned out 94mb off my PC in less than a minute. Highly highly recommended.

A First Ever For Traffic Exchanges March 29, 2007

I’ve been meaning to say this all week but all this activity at traffic-splash has kept me busy.

Did you hear the first ever TE Podcast last week? Do you know your F-Factor? Do you know what F-Factor means? Trust me, you need to know!

Jon Olson and Dan Moses podcast last week was fantastic. Two surfers shooting the breeze about this lil indusrtry of ours. Two surfers who just happen to know more about this biz than most of us ever will.

Check out the first ever TE podcast at Jon Olson’s Hit Exchange Blog

Say Noooo to Audio! March 1, 2007

Actually, I don’t mind a little sound when I surf but I really hate sites that run scripts and try to download viruses etc.

I surf in Firefox and I just stumbled across a cool little add-on which stops those scripts running. It’s called NoScript and it does exactly what it says on the tin. My PC is no longer at risk from the vast majority of downloads and my surfing is so much smoother too.

What has this got to do with audio? Well, audio files no longer run automatically too. I’ve been using NoScript for a week and the only downside is that I can no longer surf a couple of minor exchanges.

Oh, another bonus, I can now surf in Hot Conference and actually hear everything that’s going on. There is no more surf chatter blasting through my headset. I love NoScript!

Did I mention that it’s free?

Happy New Year! February 24, 2007

OK, so February is nearly over but amazingly enough this is my first post of the year. My oh my, has time flown by.

I have to tell you that traffic exchange ownership is even better than I imagined. I’m really enjoying it but man oh man is there is a lot more to be done than you would ever believe.

Anyways, back on December 24 Jason Fulgham and I published the redesign of Traffic-Splash and started a stealth launch that has been amazing to behold. In just nine weeks we already have over 1,200 new members. We’ve not JV’d with people, no email campaigns, no real networking. Just good solid traffic exchange advertising. Simple conclusion, traffic exchanges work!

And here’s another belated announcement for this blog. As we ‘launched’ at Christmas I decided to award two free 12 month upgrades at Traffic-Splash. Many congratulations to Pat Grilliot and Rich Morris!

If you’d like to check on our progress at Traffic-Splash or take advantage of more exclusive offers then check out our latest news here.

And I promise to post more regularly again now. Promise :)

Censorship December 10, 2006

Posted by paul in : Stories , add a comment

So yet again, I see someone claiming that advertising in exchanges with longer timers is better because viewers are forced to see your ad.

Ya know what? This has really bugged me since I first started using traffic exchanges. I just think that argument is a pile of something I don’t wanna step in! And so I’m wading in, hmmm…..

Firstly, tabbed browsers allow us to see as much, or as little, of each site as we wish to. I personally ‘give good page views’ and I hope that most surfers afford me the same respect. But I know within 1-2 seconds whether I want to take a closer look at what each page has to offer. So what is the point of a long timer?

Secondly, I don’t expect exchange owners to censor my viewing by cutting out the boring affiliate sites that repeatedly appear, so I don’t expect to be forced to sit and look at those sites either.

In short, I really don’t expect to have my viewing censored.

So, imagine my surprise when I found out that one exchange is deliberately forcing it’s members to stare at the screen for 20 seconds. They’re actually stopping the timer if you use a tabbed browser to go anywhere else.

OK, well they just lost my custom but perhaps you have a different view. If you’d like to see a few other opinions and discover which exchange this is, just visit my favourite forum

Kevin’s Cadillac? December 2, 2006

Posted by paul in : Stories , 1 comment so far

OK, admit it. How many of you need to know if Kevin lends out his Cadillac?
I know that loads of people hate sound when surfing, I’m usually one of them, but that’s only because I’m fed up of hearing whiny salesmen with their weasly pathetic pitches, or having my ears blown off by really loud blaring music.

I also get a little bored with hearing my name called out now, but I appreciate the ingenuity behind that software.

You see, a site with sound is quite likely to produce a 500% increase in response rates over a silent site. I just heard this week that the average visitor lingers a whole three seconds on a ‘normal’ ebay auction, whereas a talking auction gets visits averaging 1 minute 25 seconds. Interesting eh?

So, when you’re writing your next splash page, stop for a minute and think about investing $20 in software that lets you speak to your target market. You might just be surprised by the results.

Oh and please don’t think it’s cool to blast my ear drums. Treat me with respect and why not leave a little mystery? I know I’m still dying to find out if I can get my hands on Kevin’s cadillac :D

“The Death” November 26, 2006

Whether you like him, love him, loathe him or are indifferent to him I have to say that I find the figures Mike Filsaime released today absolutely stunning!

In just two weeks (plus prep time) 84,219 people have downloaded The Death of Internet Marketing and he never even mailed his own lists. That really IS viral! :)

So, apart from the fact that Mike Filsaime is one heck of a marketer, what does this tell me?

Internet Marketing is certainly NOT dead! In fact, Mike never said it was, just that it is changing. The potential is huge!

Mike talked in the report about Lifeblood Sites. These are the essentials that you can’t run your business without. Hosting and Electrics would be examples of ‘lifeblood’ suppliers. I would argue that many find Traffic Exchanges lifeblood suppliers too.

I mean, over 250,000 people use traffic exchanges and many could be viewing your site every day if you use them too.

What potential eh?
